2016 Tour 3 Isla San Jose

Hello whalewatchers! We started the day with a wonderful sunrise on the red cliffs of Punta Colorado. Shortly after we went ashore for a walk and then cooled off with a snorkel. Once we got the anchor up, we found a small group of pilot whales. Now we’re on the move looking for more wildlife. Wish us luck!

trip 4 pilot

Hello whalewatchers: We are enjoying wonderful weather this afternoon. We found a group of pilot whales again, around 50 of them, with some large males in the group. They were very curious around the boat. A couple even breached a few times. There were also 15 or so bottlenose dolphin mixed in with the pilot whales.  We’re headed to Isla Santa Catalina to go ashore and go for a snorkel. Then we’ll blast off around lunch to go look for some more whales.

Tour 4 Isla Santa Catalina

Hello whalewatchers: The weather  is a highlight this trip with calm seas and light winds. We had a great morning aat Isla Santa Catalina with a good walk and a snorkel session along with a Crazy Coastal Cruise for those who wanted to go.
In the afternoon it was the dolphin show. A group of 25 bottlenose dolphins first entertained us. Then a large group of long-beaked common dolphin. There was between 1500 and 2000 dolphin. Another large group of 100 bottlenose performed in the wake for us.
We also had some smooth- tailed mobula leaping that everyone enjoyed. Two different areas kept us busy for a while. We can’t forget the landscape of the peninsula that is very dramatic in this area west of Bahia Agua Verde where we will anchor for the night. The finale was a great sunset that interrupted dinner. Everyone left the galley with their cameras .

Tour #3 Isla Partida and fin whales

Hello whalewatchers,
The Sea of Cortez wind gave us a wild ride last night!  We adjusted the itinerary and stopped at Isla Partida in a great cove this morning. Everyone  went for a nice walk with lots of birdwatching and then a skiff ride afterwards. We had lunch in the bay and then we left to go offshore to look for whales. We travelled up to Isla San Francisco and we came across a pair of fin whales and a large group of bottlenose dolphins. We had great looks at the fin whales in good weather.
We are headed north and will anchor for the night. We’ll go ashore on the peninsula early and then back out to look for whales. We hope to have good weather tomorrow.

More then,

Capt Art
