Hello whalewatchers,
Today was a humpback day! We saw several whales in the Gorda Bank area. Early on we saw singles and doubles with one trio that did some breaching and flipper flapping.
At around 10 am we located a big group of 9 or 10 animals and they were showing off–lots of breaching with multiple whales in the air at once. We saw flipper flapping, tail lobbing and thrashing. We spent two hours with this group and could have stayed longer but it got quite windy. The farther we got offshore the windier it got, so we had to break off and head for the coast and calmer weather.
It was fantastic whalewatching and everyone had a great time even though conditions weren’t ideal.
We arrived at Bahia Los Frailes at 3:30 pm and had a couple of hours onshore for birding, walking and some snorkeling. All in all a great day…
More tomorrow,
Capt Art
