Searcher Baja Whale Tour #2 – February 20 – March 3 2026

Friday evening, 2/20/26, we departed San Diego on our Baja Whale Tour #2! After checking into Ensenada Saturday morning, we headed south aboard Searcher, observing wildlife along the way.

Sunday morning we woke to a beautiful sunrise and pleasant weather just north of San Benitos Island. We were treated to a group of three adult humpbacks breaching, pec-slapping, and tail-lobbing. We paused our journey to enjoy their antics as Pacific white-sided dolphins cruised by. The rest of the day was spent hiking the island itself, taking in the scenery and encountering elephant and fur seals. We continued our southward journey with following seas.

Tuesday was another wonderful day in Laguna San Ignacio. Our morning started with a visit from a cow-calf pair, who joined us as we enjoyed our dawn coffee. Some folks chose to continue enjoying the bountiful gray whales currently calling the lagoon home, while others ventured into the mangroves. Drifting along the clear, shallow water and listening to the songs of mangrove warblers was very peaceful.

Today we are off Bahía Magdalena, traveling south. We have encountered many humpbacks and had our first sighting of the largest mammal on Earth, the blue whale! We remain southbound, with a pelican mascot perched on our starboard corner.

Searcher and the Crew would love for you to join us on the adventures! Our 2027 schedule is available on our website.
