As a field biologist, Andrea specializes in marine mammals and their coastal environments. She holds a Master’s degree in Resource Management and Environmental Planning from California’s San Francisco State University. Andrea led whalewatching tours for San Francisco Whale Tours, worked for NOAA Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary protecting whales, and does research with Channel Islands Cetacean Research Unit. Andrea researched harbor seals at Point Reyes National Seashore, studied humpback whales in ship strike risk areas, monitored gray whales with Gray Whales Count, and did aerial and boat-based surveys of blue whales for NOAA.
Andrea actively volunteers with marine education, beach clean-ups, marine mammal strandings, and enjoys the company of her humans and animals (both wild and domestic) on California’s beautiful central coast.
