gray whales

Laguna San Ignacio

Today I was eye-to-eye with a gray whale! A calf, who was with her 40-foot mother, rolled over right under our skiff and splashed us with her tail. I was so in awe that I forgot to take pictures, but I'll never forget today. These whales are the reason I came to Baja, but there's much more--sand dunes full of shells, flocks of birds roosting in the mangroves, the colorful sunsets. This place is magical.
